Camelina sativa seeds and cold-pressed oil supplied by Primal Food Store we describe as 'Conservation Grade' which means the plants are not sprayed with toxic chemicals or other harmful to health contaminants. The tiny seeds are protected in outer 'pods' that are resistant to insects and pests - see photo above.  


Camelina sativa oil is a superb dietary source of the essential fatty acids (EFA's) Omega 3, 6 and 9. In particular, Camelina oil contains 'heart-healthy' Omega-3 at nearly 40 ml per 100 ml - or 30 times more than olive oil! And over 50% of the Fatty acids in cold pressed Camelina oil are Polyunsaturated. Camelina sativa oil has an excellent 2:1 balance of Omega-3 to Omega-6.

Camelina oil is also very rich in natural antioxidants including tocopherols (Vitamin E being one), making this very stable oil highly resistant to oxidation and rancidity, compared to other high Omega-3 oils such as Linseed and Flax.

UNIVERSITY STUDY: The University of Eastern Finland found that Camelina sativa oil reduces the formation of fatty acid derivatives that may be harmful to cardiovascular health. Camelina sativa oil also seems to protect against oxidative stress - a precursor to inflammation in the major arteries and elsewhere in the body".
